COLFA Experiential Learning Scholarship

THIS OPPORTUNITY IS FOR SUMMER 2024

Purpose:
The College of Liberal and Fine Arts (COLFA) Student Success Center (SSC) Experiential Learning Scholarship is to support undergraduate and graduate students in COLFA seeking to grow academically and professionally while developing marketable skills through their experiential learning opportunity.
The funds for this scholarship are used to support:
• Research projects
• Study abroad/study away and global engagement programs
• Internships, both for-credit and non-credit (minimum 10hrs per week for at least 5 weeks)
• Training or professional certification programs
• Conference and seminar registration
• Community engagement projects
• Exhibits, competitions, and performances, beyond what is required for your degree.

This scholarship is intended to support learning experiences beyond what is required for your academic courses and degree plan. The scholarship will not cover: internet services, computers, equipment, UTSA tuition and fees, or books and supplies required for your courses.

This scholarship is in alignment with the UTSA Classroom to Career Initiative.

Eligibility
• Must be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in the College of Liberal and Fine Arts department or School at the time of the proposed experience.
• Must be a student in good standing.
• The proposed experience must take place during the application term of the awarded scholarship (Fall, Spring, Summer).
• Have not been a prior recipient of the COLFA Experiential Learning Scholarship during your time at UTSA.
• Must be accepted, and approved for experience before funds are distributed.

Amount
• Recipients of the COLFA Experiential Learning Scholarship will receive up to $500 toward the cost of the approved learning experience.

Requirements and Evaluation criteria
• Detailed information and budget for the proposed experience.
• Submit a 150 – 300-word description of your proposed experience, and how it will impact your professional and academic growth and development.
• An itemized budget for the proposed experience and how the funds (up to $500) would be used. (EXAMPLE: Conference registration fee: $90; hotel 2 nights (double occupancy): $150; gas: $50; meals during travel days: $40; hotel parking: $30. TOTAL= $360)
COLFA Experiential Scholars will be required to submit a digital poster reflecting on their experience at the end of the semester of the award.
• Priority is given to seniors and juniors within one year of graduation.
• Special consideration will be given to students who within the past 12 months have
• participated in COLFA SSC programs or workshops

The deadline for Summer 2024 is May 1.
