Ambrosino Transformational Leadership Annual Scholarship

Dr. Rosalie Ambrosino is a former Chair of the Department of Social Work and Dr. Bob Ambrosino served previously as the Graduate Advisor of Record. Both were integral in moving forward the transformative, culturally competent focus of the UTSA Social Work program, and this scholarship opportunity is intended to support this same vision.

  • Recipient must be actively pursuing a Master in Social Work degree.
  • Recipient must demonstrate: commitment to pursing a career in providing services to underserved/underrepresented individuals and their communities in Texas, commitment to cultural competence and social justice, evidence of transformational leadership accomplishments and initiative, and contributions to the Department of Social Work community or the broader San Antonio community.
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Recipients must be in good academic standing as defined by the Academic Standing policies in the Graduate Catalog.
  • Applicant must write a personal statement that addresses the following points: Why you chose social work as a career; your commitment to providing services to underserved/underrepresented individuals and their communities in Texas; your commitment to cultural competences and social justice; an example of a transformational leadership initiative you’ve taken; how a master’s degree in social work will help you achieve your career goals; and please describe your financial need to receive this award.
