San Antonio Geophyiscal Society Research Scholarship

The San Antonio Geophysical Society Research Scholarship is for students actively pursuing a degree within the department and working in the area of geophysics or geology.

The scholarship shall be provided to graduate or undergraduate students working in the area of geophysics or geology and currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences. Preference will be given to graduate students conducting geophysical research. In the absence of a sufficient number of graduate applicants engaged in geophysical research, the remaining funds will be awarded to graduate students conducting field work for geological research. Undergraduate students are eligible, if they are engaged in field research.

This scholarship must be used for expenses related to research, or travel/registration/supply expenses to participate in relevant geoscience research conferences. Funds will not be used to support participation in an academic field course.

Eligibility:

• Submit a one-page essay describing their research, as well as a detailed budget outlining expenditures. If funds are to be used to attend a research conference, the essay should include a description of how their participation at the conference is relevant to their educational development as a geoscientists.
• Applicant(s) must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA on a scale of 4.0.
• Awards can be made as reimbursements for past expenditures made with personal funds. Paid receipts required.

The scholarship is not renewable to the recipient(s).
