Edward Engates Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Computer Science
This scholarship was established in loving memory of Edward Engates by his son, John Engates (‘94) and daughter-in-law, Dr. Karen Engates (’10). This scholarship is awarded to upperclassmen pursuing a degree in computer science who meet the folllow criteria:
ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA
- Current Undergraduate, enrolled full-time (12+ credit hours/semester)
exceptions for those who do not need to be full-time to graduate - Completed 60+ semester credit hours at UTSA
- Major: Computer Science
- GPA: cumulative 3.0+ (4.0 scale)
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident
- Preference given to applicants who attended a high school in the San Antonio Metropolitan area; who demonstrate financial need are the first generation of their family to attend or graduate from college; within this preference, academic merit and financial need may be considered
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Recommendation Letters: from two computer science faculty members
- Essay: 1-2 pages in which the applicant: describes themselves, their specific professional goals, and how they plan to pursue their goals during and after college
