Good Neighbor Program

The Good Neighbor Program for 2021-2022 provides an exemption of tuition for students from the nations of the Western Hemisphere. Students may be offered one year of tuition (fall, spring, and summer). Students are exempt from paying tuition only: students must still pay applicable fees. Financial Aid offer letters will be sent in mid to late July.

To be eligible for the Good Neighbor Program:

  • Students must be on a current United States Immigration Service approved “Student Visa” (Usually F-1 or J-1).
  • Students must have been born in and be a current resident of one of the politically independent nations in the American Hemisphere other than Cuba or the United States, listed below.
  • Students must intend to return to the eligible country upon completion of his/her program of study.
  • Students must be admitted “unconditionally” to UTSA and maintain satisfactory academic progress.
  • Undergraduates must take a minimum of 12 hours each semester; Graduate students must take a minimum of 9 hours.
