Recovery Center Service and Leadership Scholarship

The Roadrunner Recovery Scholarship for Leadership and Service will provide a total of $500.00 to selected eligible students who demonstrate a commitment to their recovery, service, and leadership, and who commit to upholding the Recovery Center’s and UTSA’s core values.

*Scholarship ELIGIBILITY *

  • Current member or active participant of UTSA Recovery Center
  • Minimum of three months identifying as in recovery from alcohol, drugs, and/or process/behavioral addictions
  • Actively engaged in your recovery program
  • Routine attendance of Recovery Center support meetings and/or recovery support meetings in the San Antonio or other community. (AA/All- Recovery/SMART Recovery/ other)
  • Actively engage with the Roadrunner Community activities.
  • Activities include but are not limited to: participation in the GroupMe chat, attendance in meetings and speaker events, social events (virtual included).
  • Demonstrated ability to uphold UTSA’s core values of Integrity, Excellence, Inclusiveness, Respect, and Collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to uphold the Recovery Center’s core values of Community, Support, Service, Empowerment, Integrity, Accountability, Well-being, Inclusiveness, and Respect.
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 9 credit hours per semester.
  • Demonstrate commitment to leadership/leadership growth.
  • Demonstrate commitment to community service activities
  • Demonstrate commitment to academic success by achieving a minimum GPA of 3.0.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Students seeking the Roadrunner Recovery Scholarship for Leadership and Service must:

  • Complete the entire application including the provided essay questions.
  • Provide two letters of recommendation from individuals who can comment on your commitment to your recovery
  • Include a resume, curriculum vitae, or other list outlining leadership and community service. (We understand that during the time of COVID, opportunities may have been sparse. In this case, please provide ways in which you have achieved this creatively such as helping out neighbors with yard work, picking up groceries for someone else, helping a family member clean/cook, etc.)
  • Submit your application by the indicated deadline of Friday, January 22, 2021.
