Asociacion de Empresarios Mexicanos Scholarship
1. The Scholarship shall be provided to two current members of the UTSA Hispanic Student Association (HSA) who have been active members for more than one year.
2. Recipients must be in good academic standing with the University of Texas at San Antonio (hereinafter referred to as “UTSA”). Contributions to the UTSA HSA organization will be the primary selection criteria. GPA will be used as a tie-breaker among applicants. In the case of a tie among applicants, preference will be given to students having a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale.
3. Applicants must write a one-to-two page single-spaced essay addressing:
- Length of time as a member of Hispanic Student Association. (The applicant must have been an active dues-paying member for at least two academic years or is currently in second year of active membership). The student must describe what this membership has meant to the applicant.
- Participation in cultural activities or the organization of one or more cultural events sponsored by the Hispanic Student Association and a description of what that participation has meant to the applicant.
- Participation in at least one community service event organized by the Hispanic Student Association. The applicant must describe specific participation in the event and how this event is important for the Hispanic community.
- Overall contribution to the Hispanic Student Association. This should include what being a member of HSA has meant to the applicant and how the applicant has contributed to the success of the organization.
