Fulbright Open Study/Research Award

The Fulbright Open Study/Research Awards Program allows students to enroll in a postgraduate degree in any designated subject or conduct research at a sponsoring institution that provides a letter of affiliation. Applicants for study/research awards design their own projects and will typically work with advisers at foreign universities or other institutes of higher education. The study/research awards are available in approximately 140 countries.

Award: Awards vary, but generally cover tuition, room and board, international airfare, and all living costs with a modest stipend. Federal loan deferment is also offered.

  • Academically strong (3.5+ GPA is competitive, although there is no minimum GPA)
  • Must have a clear idea of how time will be spent during the award period

  • Students of any UTSA College are eligible to apply
