Janice and Michael Doyle Endowed Research Award in Chemistry
Are you passionate about chemistry research? The Janice and Michael Doyle Endowed Research Award supports UTSA students who demonstrate outstanding commitment to laboratory research and academic excellence. Established by Janice and Michael Doyle, this scholarship reflects Dr. Michael Doyle’s commitment to student success. As a former professor in the Department of Chemistry, he recognizes the value of encouraging students to engage in meaningful research experiences.
Eligibility Requirements
Undergraduate Applicants:
• Must be enrolled full-time (12+ credit hours per semester).
• Completed at least 60 credit hours.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• Major: Chemistry or Biochemistry
Graduate Applicants:
• Must be enrolled full-time (6+ credit hours per semester).
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Major: Chemistry
Application Materials
Applicants must submit the following:
• Resume highlighting research experience and leadership.
• Personal Statement: Describe your motivation and long-term commitment to pursuing a career in chemistry research, including what inspires and excites you about research. Discuss your previous research experiences and identify the specific areas of chemistry that most interest you.
• Two Letters of Recommendation (at least one from UTSA Chemistry faculty).
• Unofficial transcript.
Research Program Requirement
Recipients will conduct a 10-week summer research project with a UTSA Chemistry faculty mentor. This immersive experience provides hands-on learning and mentorship in the chemical sciences. Recipients may not be enrolled in summer coursework during the research period.
