Yuen Family Endowed Scholarship for Student Leaders in the Sciences

Dr. Timothy Yuen, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies from 2020-2025, and his brother, Lieutenant Colonel Kent Yuen of the United States Army Reserve, dedicate this scholarship in memory of their parents. This scholarship is intended to support student leaders who have made a positive impact on student life and engagement in the College of Sciences.

ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA

  • Current Undergraduate(s), enrolled at least part-time (6+ credit hours/semester)
    _exceptions for those who do not need to be part-time to graduate
  • Completed 24+ semester credit hours at the University of Texas at San Antonio prior to disbursement of the award
  • Major: any in the College of Sciences
  • GPA: cumulative 2.0+ (4.0 scale)
  • Preference give to applicants who hold, or have recently held, a leadership position in a student organization affiliated with the College. Students serving in an unofficial leadership capacity may apply, provided they ca demonstrate that their contributions are comparable to those of an official leadership role.
  • Preference give to applicants who submit a letter of recommendation rom their student organization advisor; the letter should confirm the applicant’s role ad speak to the effort ad impact they have had on students within the College while serving in that role.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Submit a 1 page reflection describing their leadership philosophy, accomplishments in the role, and the impact of their efforts on students within the College.
