OCI Energy Annual Scholarship
FALL 2025 & SPRING 2026 SEMESTER
- Recipients must be either (i) undergraduate students enrolled full-time, 12 credit hours; or (ii) graduate students enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours; and, in either case, actively pursuing a degree at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). An exception to full-time enrollment for an undergraduate student may be granted by the Association on a case-by-case basis when the student is not required to take a full course load to graduate, provided the student is enrolled a minimum of half-time. A written waiver of approval by the Association shall be submitted to the Scholarship Office.
- If Recipient is an undergraduate student, they must have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours prior to the first disbursement.
- Applicants may have any declared major, with preference given to students in Business Management, Economics, or Political Science and whose career interests are in the field of renewable energy.
- Recipients must be in good academic standing with the university during the awarding period and maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average. For scholarship renewal/continuation purposes, the GPA requirement may be waived for one regular semester by the Association if, in the opinion of the Director or their designee, it is academically feasible for the student to raise their GPA to the required minimum level by the end of the waived regular semester. Written waiver of approval by the Association shall be submitted to the Scholarship Office.
- Among equally qualified applicants, primary preference will be given to graduates from the following San Antonio school districts: Alamo Heights ISD, East Central ISD, Edgewood ISD, Fort Sam Houston ISD, Harlandale ISD, Judson ISD, Lackland ISD, North East ISD, Northside ISD, Randolph Field ISD, San Antonio ISD, South San Antonio ISD, Southside ISD, or Southwest ISD
- Community service involvement and/or volunteerism are required and must be listed on the scholarship application.
- Applicant must indicate a genuine interest in the field of renewable energy by submitting a 400-500 word letter with their application that addresses future ambitions.
- A letter of recommendation from a professor, employer, or community member is required.
- Applicants must apply through the UTSA Scholarship Hub.
- Funds from this scholarship will be disbursed equally during the fall and spring semesters and are contingent upon the availability of funds and the recipient successfully maintaining at least all minimum criteria provided herein.
- Final selection of the recipient(s) will be made by the UTSA Alumni Association Scholarship Committee.
